Shredded Water

Water was shredded last night at the Varsity Boys' Water Polo game against Nipomo. The boys put up a good fight but wrongly lost 7-8 at the last second. The team isn't going to let this loss get the best of them, however. They are smarter and stronger than ever!

"We are better at working smarter, but still working hard," said Coach De Paulo. No denying that the team is trying to fulfill their goal of making it to CIF this year. "They're working more as a team," claimed De Paulo.  They defeated the cross town rivals, Santa Maria High School on Tuesday.

Chance Skaufel, senior, was said to stand out the most on the team next to his right hand man, Ian Granski. "Chance is a left handed shooter, which you don’t see often.  He has improved in confidence and shown to have fast pace reactions," said De Paulo. "This year should be pretty good, better than last year" explained Skaufel.

"When someone is committed they can improve quickly," De Paulo said proudly. PV can look forward to seeing more wins from such a dedicated and hard-working team. So go out and support the players next Tuesday, September 8th against Morro Bay.

Pun [pən]

noun; a joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word or the fact that there are words that sound alike but have different meanings

Normal jokes are overrated, so here are some puns to knock your socks off. These are the best puns that have been heard this week. As we all know a good pun is its own reword.

"You're not my real father!" yells a little ladder. I guess you can say that's what being a Step Ladder will always be like.

A skunk fell in the river and stank to the bottom.

A heart broken flamingo just got out of a relationship and squawks "I'M SINGLE AND READY TO FLAMINGLE"

There you have it, I hope these weren't too punful to read. But just like a boiled egg, these were hard to beat.         -Madison Skaufel

What did you do this summer?

Mr. and Ms. Brafman attended the FIFA World Cup in Brazil with their three kids Sasha, Lucan and Torrie.  They stayed for six weeks in and around Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro.  They were fortunate enough to attend three games (Belgium vs Russia, France vs Ecuador and semi-final Uruguay vs Colombia) all in the same stadium "Maracana", one of the most famous stadiums in the world.  They stayed with family in Copacabana in the heart of the festivities, one block from the Fifa Fan Fest where the games were shown to huge crowds on the beach.  The fans would come in waves from all over the world depending on which games would be played in Rio.  They saw waves of Chileans, Argentinians and Uruguay, but most exciting were the numerous USA fans that came to support the team.  USA was represented very well at all venues and was the nation that brought in the greatest number of fans worldwide. The experience was definitely a chance of a lifetime.
