PV Shines Bright in Parade of Lights

Kicking off the Christmas season in Santa Maria, the annual Parade of Lights lit up Broadway this past Saturday night. PV Marching Band opened the parade with Color Guard following close behind. The crowd watched in awe as the band made their way from JC Penny to the mall.  PV Cheer showed the town their school spirit as well, shaking their pom-poms and calling out those chants we Panthers love to hear. PV’s parade entrants showed off PV’s pride to the community and brought smiles to the faces of many Santa Marians. Way to go Panthers!

Can’t Wait for Those Christmas Eats

The holidays are here! It's time to make memories with your family, give presents, but most importantly, to eat as much food as you can! Everyone has their different foods that they usually eat during Christmas. Whether it being tamales or some warm slices of pie, we all have your favorite foods we all enjoy during the cold months!  Here are some of your fellow panthers' favorite Christmas foods!

Albert Rodriguez (11) explains that his favorite food for Christmas is spaghetti. “It tastes so good, especially if my mom makes it. To me, she makes the best spaghetti!”

Kihabet Alcorta’s (9) favorite food to eat on Christmas is her grandmother’s tamales. “I love how my grandmother makes them! There the best.”

Savannah Smith (10) says her favorite food for Christmas is apple pie. “I usually buy it at Albertsons, their pies taste really great.”

Yearbook Club Celebrates Christmas at Disneyland

"Disneyland: The happiest place on Earth." This past Sunday, The Effect (Yearbook) Staff and close friends had the incredible opportunity to spend an entire day at Disneyland. Despite leaving on a charter bus at 5 o'clock in the morning, everyone was filled with energy and excitement. Some people took a short nap on the way there, while others expressed their enthusiasm by talking about how much they love Disney. For some, this was their first time going, for others, it was a chance to relive the happiness and warmth experienced once before.

One step into the amusement park and immediately the words, "Where should we even go first?" pop into your head. Disneyland is divided into 8 sections: Main Street, Adventureland, New Orleans Square, Critter Country, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown, and Tomorrowland. Each section has their own individual theme. You could find Cinderella in Fantasyland and Stormtroopers in Tomorrowland. It doesn't matter where you are in the park, you'll still feel that Disney magic.

When you're in Disneyland, you feel a sudden euphoria. Nothing can go wrong; nothing is wrong. Grown men wearing Mickey Mouse ears are normal. Everything is okay, because you share the same interests with everyone. You don't feel weird taking selfies with Stormtroopers or even tea cups, it's all reasonable because you're in Disneyland.

"It was magical. It was everything I dreamed about and more," Vanessa Nunez (12) shares about her first time, "That moment you walk into the castle, you get hit with a wave of nostalgia." Although this wasn't a first time for Lorenz Dodson (11), he still had the same happy feeling as Vanessa. "Disneyland was really fun. All the decorations and rides made me really feel the Disney magic," Lorenz claimed, "There were a lot of cute girls, but the food was expensive." Although most things were expensive, the memories were priceless. It was all worth it.
