Autumn has fallen.

But Winter is here.

Welcoming sheets of white to blanket the rough earth.

Crystal clear lakes mirror the

Bare trees shivering in the December sky.

Woodland creatures prepare for the cold months,

Burrowing to hide from the bitter weather.

Little red noses speckle the white snow;

Hiding behind layers of fabric.

Baby snowflakes kiss their cheeks

As their breath leaves little ghosts

To haunt the frosty air.

The sweet notes of hot cocoa

Waft in the coziness of the indoors.

The dancing of flames

And the crackling of wood

Protect them from the outside;

Warming what's cold inside.

The celebrations of the holidays

Are invited into homes.

The smell of fresh pine

whispers out winter.

Ornamented by spheres of color.

Autumn has fallen.

But Winter is here.

Get in the Holiday Spirit and Volunteer

Community Service is anywhere and everywhere but many students find it hard to search for. It's pretty simple actually, PV's own website has plenty of options and ways to sign up or contact the organizations. There are many different types of places to lend services to: the library, hospital, shelters, etc. If a computer is not available, take a peek into the College and Career Center, look at the pictures and schedule posted on the wall. All information on how to contact and sign up for any interested community service that best fits you. But if all else fails, you can ask Ms. Apple in the Career Center. She will be happy to help you in what you seek.

Ashley Joy Domingo (11): Doing community service is a great thing to do, especially in high school. I've met a lot of cool people and I've done a lot of cool things.

Aaron Mendoza (12): Volunteering makes me feel good about myself. Seeing others smile because of the help I've given them makes me smile.
