A Thanksgiving Poem

Living for the future,

taking in one day as if it were a second.

However, it's this time of year where we bask

in all of the beauties that life provides for us.

Grateful for life itself;

the very soul of our existence.

The complex structure of our minds

and the capabilities of them.

Appreciating the wonders of the world.

The planet we call home.

Floating within the untouched,

never ending pits of space.

Thankful for our loved ones

Overfilling our hearts with joy.

They are the sun, soil, and water

that helped us bloom to who we are today.

It's the small moments in life that make living worthwhile.

Stand with France

French Club has created a banner that will be sent to our sister school in France, Lycée Galilée, to show our support in regards to the recent attacks in Paris. If you'd like to sign the banner or write a message of support, stop by room 213 TODAY.

“We want to show our support for our sister school in France. We’ve been pen paling for five years now. It’s very clear that we have a good relationship with them. And a lot of our pen pals took the initiative on their own through social media to reach out to them, so we thought why not do it on a school level so that they can feel the support, one school to another.” – Ms. Zambran, French Club Adviser.

Many students have already taken the time to sign the banner with messages of support. Ms. Zambrano loves that they aren’t just French students; it’s for any student who wants to write a message on the banner. There have been messages written in English, French, and Spanish. This proves how well we can come together as a community. Ms. Zambrano would like to thank everyone who has signed the banner. And if you haven't yet, it’s not too late. You can still sign it today during lunch at room 213.

Ladies and Gentleman, Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games

-Jessica Pena

Hunger Games is a story about revolution, love, and betrayal. It is a place in the world that is half flood by some natural disaster and little of the United States is surviving. The government then sections the United States in one Capital and 13 districts. Each district must work on the one resources that it provide, then give it to the Capital. District 13 try to rise and lead a revolution, then they were destroyed by a nuclear bomb from the Capital. A peace treaty was made for each of the districts, and in exchange for protections, each district must give a tribute, a male and a female, between the ages of 12 to 18 to participate in the “Hunger Games”. Hunger Games is a yearly televised event that the children are forced to fight to the death in an arena.

Then a girl named Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her sister at the 74th annual Hunger Games. She became the face and hero of the nation. She is the inspiration of the revolution to fight against the Capital’s injustice.

Mockingjay Part 2 is the last movie of the Hunger Games franchise. Katniss must do all she can to stop the president of the Capital. Part 2 will be action pack inside of the Capital because it became a battle ground.  Ladies and Gentleman, the 76th Hunger Games begins TONIGHT!

“I am going to watch Mockingjay Part 2 this Friday (tonight). I’m going with my sister as her babysitter in case she does something reckless. I’ve never read the books before but heard they are good.”

–Eduardo Uribe (12)

“I will watch Mockingjay on the day it comes out. I read the books before, and my favorite is Catching Fire. The first book got things started, and the second book told more of the background and made it a really good story. I think the Catching Fire movie is my favorite because the movie adapted well to the novel. I’m really excited and I know that I’m going to cry. It’s really sad that I already read the books because I know what is going to happen when I watch the movie.”  –Angelica Juenke (11)

“I am watching Mockingjay on opening night. I will have a great time watching it with my friends. Well, one of my friends, the one sitting next to me. Yes, I have read the books before. My favorite book is Mockingjay. I agree with Sam that the first movie is the best one. I predict something will happen to Prim, Katniss’s sister. My favorite, between Gale and Peeta, its Peeta.” -Abbygail Pina (12) (left)

“My favorite, between Gale and Peeta, is Gale. I choose him because he’s been friends with Katniss for a long time and he takes care of her family. All Peeta ever did was throw bread in the street when it was raining. That was rude.” –Savannah Delgado (12) (right)
