Thanksgiving Vacay is Almost Here!

Thanksgiving vacation has always been a great, small vacation for students. Students get to relax and get away from school for a week. Many of them are very traditional and some like to spend their week off in a unique way. Others just like to stay home and watch movies. But it's always fun to have a one week vacation! Here’s how a few of your fellow Panthers will be spending their Thanksgiving Vacation.

"I like spending my one week vacation with my family, because all of my family gets together every year at either my aunt's house or my house. It's fantastic, and we always have a splendid time. It's all about giving thanks and bonding."

-Andrea Dominguez (9)

I like kicking back with the real ones that stick by my side in bad times. I'm grateful to have them. That's what I do on Thanksgiving vacation- being grateful for having them by my side."

-Uriel Yanez (11)

"My Thanksgiving vacation is spent with family. It's all about giving thanks for everything you have, and being grateful. It's definitely my favorite time of the year besides Christmas. It's so much fun to be with my family and just eat, eat, eat. It's the time of the year where I gain pounds and I don't care. I am so ready for Thanksgiving vacation!" - Rudy Gutierrez (11)(left)

"Well, my ideal Thanksgiving vacation is watching and helping my family prepare the main meal for the whole week until it's time to eat. During the free time we have, my brother and I love to play videogames with each other. On Thanksgiving Day, all my family gets together to eat a good meal, make memories, and simply enjoy each other's company. That's how I like to spend my thanksgiving vacation." - George DaaDouch (9)(right)

"I spend quality time with my family and give thanks to my loved ones. I eat as much food as I can, wishing I won’t get fat. Thanksgiving vacation is simply the best because of the food." - Brianna Jaquez (9)(left)

"Thanksgiving vacation is always the best part of the year for me. It's the time of the year where I go shopping the most. Hey, guys can like shopping too. It's also the time of the year when I eat the most. It's perfect.  I am well prepared for Thanksgiving vacation." - Heladio Cervantes (10)

Fashion at Pioneer Valley

-Jessica Cervantes

Pioneer Valley is populated by students who dress fabulous. So many of them love to stay in trend. Fashion can be a part of someone and influence the way one lives. Fashion is important because it’s a way to expresses yourself without having to speak. It reassures you that you can just be you.

"I literally just mix and match. To me, it doesn't matter to match your clothes. I like to be creative and put different things together to make a new unique piece. The casual style is the best style." -Letty Medina

"I wear whatever I feel confident in. Forget the rules. If you like something, wear it! Dressing up and getting yourself ready is an important role in confidence. It makes me feel so much better. How I dress up and my taste in fashion is inspired by Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Nicki Minaj. Again, if you like something wear it. There really is no limit when it comes to fashion. Too glam to give a dang." -Juanita Noelia (10)

"I like to wear nice things. What motivates me is knowing that I can look great, if I choose to. My fashion advice is to just go with your gut- with what you like. Be one of a kind. Who cares what other people think. I like to wear jeans. Ripped jeans are always a plus- always. I would say my taste is modern. Cotton-on shirts are really comfortable and chic. Converse will always be in trend. Another plus is messenger bags, it just really stands out. Well, just be your kind of fashion."

-Alan Holguin (9)

"I dress up to look good for myself. I just wake up and believe that it'll be a good day. That's what motivates me to do my makeup and put something nice on. Some things in trend are burgundy lipstick and jeans. Since fall is here, warm colors are in, as well as boots and leg warmers."

FFA goes B.I.G.

After endless hours of practice and dedication, yesterday, two teams from Pioneer Valley FFA headed to Nipomo High School to compete in the sectional level B.I.G. contest. B.I.G. stands for Best Informed Greenhand. This contest involves a written test for ninth grade students and is based on their knowledge of FFA history, officers, constitutions/bylaws and more. Different chapters from the Santa Barbara section competed in this event, each hoping to make it to the top five. Eighteen teams competed at this year’s contest, Pioneer Valley Team B placed 4th in the contest.

Do You Believe in Aliens?

-Lesley Calderon and Tisiana Velasco

Aliens, everyone knows them as those green little creatures from another planet that abduct humans and brainwash them. But, who knows? They might be nice. They might not even be green. They could look like a million different, indescribable things. Some people believe in aliens, some people don’t. We got the opinions of some Panthers on the extra-terrestrial:
