What Are You Thankful For?

Thanksgiving is almost here! Time for food, family, and giving our thanks for everything we have in life. Although we don’t always show it, this time of year is when we all recognize the little things in life, whether it’s being the food on our plates or the family that surrounds us. Here are some of our fellow Panthers and what they are thankful for this year.

Jessica Santos (9) says, “I am thankful for having the greatest family and being able to make many new friends this year.”

"I'm really thankful for my friends in drama, and just being able to enjoy life." -Rene Hernandez (12).

Armando Tamaya (10) explains, “What I am thankful for this year is actually having the greatest friends. They’re always there to support me.”

Erica Sanchez (11) tells us, “Well, what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving is having my family and friends always being there for me and appreciating what I have achieved so far.”

Tyler Christopher (12) says, “What I’m thankful for this year is having my family around me.”

Key Clubbers Get Hyped at Fall Rally South 2015

"I feel good! Oh, I feel so good! Ugh!"  Chants like this echoed alongside screeching rollercoasters in Magic Mountain last Saturday. On November 14, our very own Key Club attended Fall Rally South in Six Flags Magic Mountain, along with dozens of other Key Clubs from other schools all over California, Nevada and Arizona.  Attendees traversed the park enjoying rides like Goliath, while also meeting other Key Club Divisions exchanging hugs, chants, and Instagram accounts. During specified times, Key Club Divisions met at the Golden Bear Auditorium to show their Division spirit, meet their Lieutenant Governors (Aaron Mendoza for us) and raise money for Pediatric Trauma Prevention. Attendees also learned the importance of coming together and helping out their local communities.

"I view Fall Rally as a showcase of art because it's a place where so many different groups of people come together to create a color and a diverse community of kindness, friendship, and power." Marie Dumadara (12)

"It was good. There were lots of free hugs and cute people haha" - Selena Salinas (12)

Feeling Lucky?

Some PV Panthers believe a ritual or a charm can help them have good luck; for example, carrying a special bracelet or wearing a certain pair of lucky socks or even doing a certain act. What are your lucky possessions/routines?

"I usually go to the bathroom before I do anything big to clear my body of all the toxins," Kaitlyn Murphy (11)

"My teammate Escobar leads us in a prayer. It helps before every game. It feels right, because we are a family,"  Isaac Renteria (11)

"I carry around a rabbit's foot for good luck," said Ariana Preciado (12)

"We wear yellow for luck and red for love on New Years Eve. We do this to bring good luck and love for the New Year," Zaira Flores (12)

"I ask my friends to punch me in the face so I get hyped up before a match," Ezequiel Pena (12)
