Homecoming Candidates Tell All, Part 1

Joseph Codamos

Homecoming is such a big deal, especially for the King and Queen candidates. This year there are 6 girls running and 2 boys. In today’s article the King candidates Raymond Hernaez & Joseph Codamos answer the following series of questions:

1. What motivated you to run for Homecoming king? 2. What's a good or funny experience you've had at Homecoming before?

3. What do you expect from this years Homecoming?

Raymond Hernaez

1. Well, being so involved in school already, I wanted to run for the position of HC King because it's my last year of high school and I really wanted to remember the experience as much as possible, win or lose.

2. A funny Homecoming experience that I had was two years ago (sophomore year), when I took a senior and she wore a glitter dress and by the end of the night I had a pretty cool nickname.

3. Of course I think Homecoming will be fun! I have the opportunity to help plan Homecoming, being in ASB, and it should be a fun time and possibly even more.

1. I have always wanted to run for HC King ever since freshman year because I just thought it would be an amazing experience and a highlight of my senior year.

2. A good experience I had at past Homecomings is when people would make a big circle on the dance floor and start dancing in the middle.

3. For this year’s Homecoming, I expect it to be epic as it will be my last Homecoming in high school. Hopefully it will be better than the past two Homecomings I went to.

What is the Best Console of Our Generation?

Video games have a huge impact on our social lives. There is not a single person who hasn’t played a game in their lives. Video games are an immersive experience that gives you an escape from reality. You can be hunting treasures as Nathan Drake or Lara Croft, finding Makarov as an operative of Task Force 141, or smashing your skull against a brick to power up and find the princess in Super Mario Brothers. Throughout the decades, gamers have enjoyed playing their videogames; however, there has always been a divider among gamers. It is a war between the gamers of the respective gaming platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC. These are the gaming giants of the current gaming generation. Which is the best console of this generation?

“To be honest, probably the PS4, because they are getting a lot more exclusives nowadays. They are also getting a lot of contracts with developers getting exclusive content for their games.” –Dominic Salazar (12)

“I personally like the Wii U. It’s got family friendly games. Not just pure action. It has a ton of genres and it has Mario. It also has a lot of content and a virtual console where they are bringing in the old games.” –Edward Garcia (12)

“The PS4. Even though it’s a bit more expensive than the Xbox One, the PlayStation online is cheaper. In my opinion, they have better games available too. The PlayStation 4 sold out, therefore, there are more PlayStation players online and it’s not as overpriced as a PC.” –Felipe Cortes (11)
