Homecoming Proposals

Joseph Codamos (12) asked his friend Brenda Lopez (12) by running around the campus with a rocket around him with a loud rocket noise coming from a speaker and flew right to Brenda. Joseph says, “It wasn’t too difficult. Actually it was kind of fun. I like to make posters and anything ‘artsy’, so I kind of got some enjoyment out of it. It being my last year I really wanted to do something big and Brenda being my friend, I just wanted to do something special for her.”

"It was a great surprise and I loved it." - Linda Beltran (11)

"I was nervous because it was my first time asking a girl, but I'm glad she will be my date to my first high school dance." - Micheal Dumitrescu (11)

“Well I wasn't nervous and she didn't expect it. It was funny. She loved it. Also she loves cats and the flowers represent her personality. She is always bright" - Diego Cardenas, 12

"I got her teacher to send her outside making it look like she got in trouble." - Andrew Vea (11)

"I was surprised! I thought Matt (the boy holding the poster) was going to ask someone else. I even turned to my friend and asked 'Who is Matt asking?' But then I saw DJ with flowers and I knew it was for me." - Citlali Pucheta (10)

- Mona Garcia-Jimenez and Alexia Ortiz

Ready To Spice Things Up?

Are you willing to shimmy and dance? Salsa Club is dedicated to teaching students not only how to Salsa, but also about the culture that comes along with it. Mr. Harmon, who in fact instructs dance as a side job, carefully teaches club members how to dance Salsa. Knowing how to dance is not a requirement to join.

Past members have even moved onto college level Salsa and are now competing professionally. So as you can see, Salsa Club is really a club that can influence your life. If you want to just learn the basics or shoot for the stars, this club will help you out! Go try it out and see if you can take the heat. The club welcomes students all year round and they have meetings every Wednesday in room 603, Mr. Harmon's room.

"The Salsa Caliente Club is a fun way to learn simple easy steps that you may not even know about. I've been going to this club ever since it began, and it's quite interesting. Anyone could go so I really recommend to people that they try it and do something new!" Jacqueline Martinez (10)

"I've been dancing Salsa since I was a kid, but I just want to get better at it. I recommend that other students, especially underclassmen, join because I regret not joining sooner." -Dinora Rojas (12) joined the club this year.
