Feeling Stressed?

Although it's just the

beginning of the school year, high school can be pretty hectic. Whether it being juggling different clubs and sports or even just plain homework overload; it all can be quite stressful. All that stress can actually affect one's health and well-being so here are some tips to lift that pressure off your shoulders.

Write.

Writing, just like music, is another great way to take your mind off things. It doesn't matter if you write for fun or despise it. Getting all your thoughts down on paper can be a way of letting all the stress sort of get out of your system.

 Drink tea.

Tea has many health benefits and might help you wind down. Chamomile tea is a type of tea that can help with tension however, any tea will suffice. Just brew some tea, add honey to taste, and enjoy!

Listen to or play music.

Music is a great way to get rid of stress. You can either pick up your favorite instrument and start playing, or simply grab your earbuds, lay down, and press play.

Read a book.

There's a whole other world out there when you open up a good book. Before you know it, you'll be so concentrated on the story that you'll forget about your problems!

Go outside and stare at the clouds.

Getting some fresh air and taking some time away from technology can really help one relax. Lay on your back and let your head wander within the clouds.

Watch the sunset.

At the end of the day, you can go out and watch the sunset. Its warm oranges and soft pink notes will bring you to serenity.

Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Killian Fears No Mountain

Card playing, chess, reading: these are all very common hobbies, but Mr. Killian, a teacher from the social studies department, has a hobby that is a little more unique. He enjoys mountain biking. "I started off with dirt bikes when I was younger but realized it was too dangerous and turned to mountain biking," says Mr. Killian. About two times a week, he rides the network trails near his home in San Luis Obispo. Also, two times a year, Mr. Killian and his buddy, Mr. Howard, come together for an out-of-town ride. Just last year, Mr. Killian purchased a new mountain bike. Although he has never been seriously injured, crashes are common during his rides. Mountain biking is quite an adventurous sport.
