Freshman Panthers Keep the Hounds at Bay; Win 22-15

The Freshmen have once again proven what they’re made of, beating the Atascadero Greyhounds at yesterday's home game.

Highlights include: #5 dives for the first touchdown in the 2nd qtr. With 1 minute in the 3rd qtr, #5, scores a TD and with 30 seconds left, #81 makes another TD, bringing the panthers to a 22- 7 lead. After losing the ball, #12, stole it back in the last seconds of the 4th quarter. It’s clear the team is working together toward the same goal: winning! They never gave up until the clock hit zero.

“It all started with the offensive line. Without them our team would be nothing.” Says Michael Bourbon, #5, about yesterday’s game.

Tonight the JV and Varsity teams take on the Greyhounds in Atascadero. Good luck Panthers!

Cross Country Performs Well in Ojai,
Prepares for Santa Margarita Tomorrow

Many coaches from different counties bring their high school cross country teams to the Ojai Invitational at Lake Casitas near Ventura every year for very good reasons: The hilly, three-mile course is challenging but safe. The event is well-organized, and competition is fierce. At the finish line, the top 20 runners in each class division (Freshmen,

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) receive medals for their good performances.

Two weeks ago, on September 19th, 45 Panther runners were among of the 800 participants in this well recognized cross country competition. There were 4 races. The varsity level runners ran the traditional 3 mile course, and the novice runners competed in the 1.9 mile distance. At the end of these tough and fierce races, 14 Panther boys and 10 Panther girls received a medal. Overall, our PVHS runners performed well. In fact, several runners got their personal best times. Most importantly, they had a great time and gained a valuable racing experience for the upcoming meets.

Currently, the following boys are running Varsity: John Gutierrez (11), Sergio Jaracauro (9), Edgar Rodriguez (12), Zac Castro (10), Eduardo Enriquez (12), Letarian Brandon (10), and Carlos Aguilera (11). On the Varsity girls' team: Alina Delabra (11), Alexis Castillo (12), Andrea Pasillas (10) Dominique Aranda (11), Sabrina Ornelas (11), Susana Vasquez (12), and Cherry Inay (11).

Our cross-country runners are working hard towards the Mid-Season Meet on October 14th. It will be held at the Elks Rodeo Center in Santa Maria. The Panthers' next race is tomorrow at the Brug Invitational at Santa Margarita Lake. Thank you for encouraging our cross-country runners this season!  Go Panthers!

Senior Pics Due Oct. 31st

Jacob Limon went to Amy Wellenkamp for his senior pictures. "She was a nice lady. She let me choose two locations: the beach and her property. She loved talking about her dogs and how I looked like Stephen Curry. She said I was one of the easiest people to take pictures of. She was quick, and there were a lot of pictures to choose from."

Chance Skaufel used Truman Photography. "I took my pictures at the beach with some guy. It was kind of awkward because I didn’t know him, but he got the job done. He took a lot of pictures so it was really hard for me to choose which one I wanted to use."

Catalina Lopez went to Jeffrey San Juan Photography for her senior pictures. "It was awkward at first because I've never had my pictures taken professionally before. Since I had my cousins with me, I was pretty comfortable with my photographer and it was pretty fun. My face hurt from all the smiling, but overall it was a fun experience. It also boosted my self-confidence because they really came out great."

Krystal Velasco went to Alexandra Wallace for her pictures. "It was really awkward because she didn’t talk to me. She only told me how to pose and that’s it."
