Asian Pacific Club Performs for Asian Day
Our very own Asian Pacific Club performs today and tomorrow at the quad in honor of Asian Day. The club’s main focus is to spread Asian-Pacific culture and awareness through the lens of dance and food. Today, members will be putting on a dance show which they have been working on for the past few months, featuring traditional dances along with more modern choreographies. In addition to dancing, the club will also be selling Lumpia (like a Filipino egg roll) for a dollar and Pancit (Filipino noodles) for three dollars. Selena Salinas, the current president of Asian Pacific, was able to give us a short interview.
PT's: How did you feel about being president this year?
Selena : It was really fun, but it was also pretty stressful trying to everyone organized for dances and getting fundraising done. Other than that it was super chill.
PT's: Why do you dance?
Selena: I dance because I have nothing else to do I guess. It’s what I’m good at, I like performing in front of people and being able to show our culture.

Catching Up with Boys’ Varsity Baseball
There are so many branches of entertainment, from watching TV, to surfing the internet. However, there's nothing like a good-old fashioned movie! There are so many to choose from that everyone can find something to enjoy. Everyone has their favorite childhood films that they adored back in the day and even now. Some say that good things don't last forever however, Disney and Pixar decided to continue the fun and let teens relive their childhood with many amazing continuations of classic childhood films.

Memes. Memes are usually an image or gif often mimicking other memes from person to person through the Internet. Memes express a certain concept or catchphrase, usually for humorous reasons. Memes have been around for a while though at first were not used as often as now. Now almost every teenager enjoys sharing memes often through social media, like Twitter or Tumblr. The most popular one at the moment is of Skai Jackson in a blue dress, awkwardly sitting in a chair with captions like, “when he comes into the room after you tried to unlock his leapfrog 3829281818 times while he was in the bathroom” or “when you try to sneak a picture and auto flash goes off”. These memes are meant to just get a laugh out of people so I asked a couple of people what meme makes them laugh the most.
“This meme is old but a classic, it gets me laughing every time. It’s a gif of a little girl holding onto her dog’s leash, and she tells it to run and the dog sprints forward, causing the girl to face plant on the floor. I just think it’s hilarious, because it was so unexpected and sudden. It also can be used to explain how your life is going or other similar circumstances.” Dalia Montiel (12)
“My favorite meme is the one called Bad Luck Brian. It’s a meme of bad school photo of ‘Brian’, where the punchline is something embarrassing or tragic happening to him. It reminds me of my old private school, it wasn’t the best experience kind of like every situation Brian comes across.” Angelica Juenke (11)
“I really like the Willy Wonka meme because it’s sarcastic and just plain hilarious. It’s like he’s pretending to be interested in what you’re saying or suggesting that the thing you’re supposedly into, you don’t know much about. Definitely a meme I use a lot.” Kevin (9)
“This meme is my favorite because it’s relatable. It’s of two people in a five feet deep pool, one average height and the other about my height. I’m quite short so the water comes up to my face, usually up to my nose, and it basically describes my height situation.” Christina Bui (10).
