SHPE Jr Club Field Trip

Today, lucky students from the SHPE Jr club are on a field trip to the Griffith Observatory and Los Angeles Zoo. It is such a great opportunity for them to be able to go. The observatory is a popular tourist attraction with an excellent view of the Hollywood sign, and an extensive array of space and science-related displays. The Los Angeles zoo is an excellent choice to visit with its Botanical Gardens and Ape exhibits.

When asked about the trip Mrs. Shiffer had this to say, “At the observatory the students will tour the exhibits and gain an understanding of and appreciation for astronomy. At the zoo we will learn about animal conservation and be able to see a variety of exotic species. I hope we will be able to see the new baby hippo.”

Future Panther Night

The performers take on the night:

“It’s kinda cool, I'm really excited to perform one last time before next year’s ColorGuard team.” - Israel Sanchez (Winter Guard)

“I'm so excited to preform because I want to show everyone that ColorGuard is really fun and that they should join. I'm sad that it's out last show but hopefully our best one yet.” -Carlos Morale (Winter Guard)

“Performing for the incoming freshmen is great because you get to show them what kind of clubs/programs PV has to offer and being in a spectacular band program is so fun and amazing that it fills me with joy when I get to show what we've been working on all year.”

-Chris Alexander Fuller (Band)

“Concert choir and jazz choir has been such an amazing experience for me. It built my confidence as a singer and my appreciation for the fine arts. There is nothing else like it, and I hope everyone gives themselves a chance to try it!” -Angelica Juenke (Choir)

Last night there were so many parents, students and future panthers here at PV! There were performances from many amazing clubs: winter guard, K-POP, Asian pacific, ballet folklorico, the PVHS band, and it was a blast! Sports and clubs were very welcoming to everyone and it seems like everyone had a great time. We asked a few of the performers and even incoming freshmen how they felt about the event.

The incoming freshmen had this to say:

"I did expect a lot because it’s a pretty big school. Yes, the clubs I like are water polo and avid. I heard avid was good, you stay there for some years with the same trusting people.

"I loved all the performances and so did my family, I want to do so much! I'm kinda nervous, but I really liked my first time coming to this school and now I'm talking and it's gonna be in the school news! Cool."

"There are so many sports I want to do and it all seems like a big fam. Thanks PV for the help I don't think I'm as worried anymore."

"I can't believe I'm gonna be in high school and I think being a panther will be super fun, I already know what I want to join kinda, I don't know actually...I'm just excited"
