Sexual Assault Awareness Recognized at PV Next Week

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and it’s worldwide. Our school is going to have an event coming up in these next few weeks to make students aware of sexual assault. It’s hosted by the SHARe Club with co-advisors Mrs. Angela Collins and Dr. Katz. They will be promoting an event going on all week long, April 25 – 28, consisting of dress up days and a rally at lunch time. Mrs. Angela Collins The SHARe Club

In these next coming up weeks, it’s important for students to participate and listen to all the facts and information that will be shared. Starting on Monday the 25th we encourage you to wear teal, the color for sexual assault awareness. On Tuesday the 26th, we’ll be showing sexual assault awareness media day in the amphitheater at lunch and also will be wearing flannels. The next day will be the Denim Day rally at lunch so wear denim! (games and prizes available!). On Thursday the 28th we encourage people to wear black and white and we’ll be giving out pledge cards at lunch.

There is a real problem going on in the world and we young adults really should know more about it to be able to protect ourselves. So what is Denim Day? Denim Day started when a young 18 year old girl was a victim of rape and she took it to court. The 45 year old rapist was convicted and sentenced but later the court overturned the conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. The court said she had to have helped him take them off thus making it consensual sex. The day after people showed there support by wearing jeans. There is not consent if the person doesn’t say yes!

There will be announcements and posters all over campus. Participate and open up your minds to the real world out there.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt REVIEW

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt follows the main character, Kimmy, on her move to New York City. (After she was kidnapped and locked away in an underground bunker by a cult leader for 15 years). Kimmy gets a job, meets Titus Andromedon, and gets a boyfriend! Life couldn’t be better, right? Well life is a little bit more complicated than that, but that doesn’t stop Kimmy from trying to get hers back.

Starring Ellie Kemper, Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess and co-created by Tina Fey. The show has gained a lot of positive reviews by critics and fans. The shows second season just premiered on Netflix last Friday. With an amazing cast and great writing, Unbreakable is one of the best sitcoms on Netflix.

You won’t be disappointed. This show is unbelievably funny! I was constantly laughing out throughout both seasons. It perfectly combines comedy with real life issues. It gets really real but makes you laugh at the same time. It’s a type of show that you can’t but at the same time can absolutely relate to. It touches on topics other sitcoms are too afraid to even mention in subtext. You’ll memorize some random and funny references and you’ll start doing it unconsciously (and annoy all your friends). But as soon as you watch the first episode, you’ll be hooked. It’s an obsession you’ll be glad to have, because no one ever truly understands until they’ve watched the show for themselves. You won’t be able to get enough of the laugh out loud comedy. If you’re ever feeling down or just need a laugh, I highly recommend Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
