FFA Holds Greenhand Degree Ceremony

PV FFA hosted their annual Greenhand Degree Ceremony Thursday night. The ceremony recognized first year FFA members and praised their expression of interest in agricultural leadership, citizenship, and cooperation. Greenhands were presented with a bronze pin. The bronze pin worn by Greenhands represents the hardness and endurance; may those qualities carry our Greenhands far in this organization. Along with receiving their first pin, Greenhands went through an initiation; officially making them a part of the PV FFA family.

Not only were our first year members recognized but our second year members too. Second year members received their Chapter Degree and were presented with a silver pin. The pin represents the influence this organization has had on their lives and their increased leadership abilities.                  -Yadira Barrera

Students Travel the World at PV Language Fair

The first annual Language Fair held Saturday was a huge success! Over 300 passports were sold and so many Panthers we're eager to be a part of this festival. The festival began with the purchase of a passport. The passport consisted of twenty or so names of activities one could participate in ranging from speed dating to playing bingo. Once finished with the activity, the 'stamper' stamped the box corresponding to the activity. Students could collect the stamps from as few as three, to all twenty in order to receive extra credit in their foreign language class- and it is fun as well!

There were also contests such as the sidewalk chalk art contest and the door poster contest, all with a country as the main theme. Along with contests, there were some lively performances from our clubs including Ballet Folklorico, K-pop, to Asian Pacific. Overall, this fair was a great way to show some of the many different cultures in our world and the first of many fairs to come!

"It was a great way to start out my Saturday. Everything was really interesting and fun."

-Tiara Lewis (11)

"Helping out and learning more about other cultures was really cool to me. It was a nice experience." -Kiana Morales (12)
