Cats in the Pool

Yesterday your fellow Panthers took on the Paso Robles Bobcats. It was a very intense and hype meet; overall it was great.

"I feel pretty good about today's meet, I think. This team is pretty tough, but I think we can pull through. It requires a lot of group effort. My favorite part of this season was team bonding at the beach."- Alina Calderon

"I think the season is going good. I've seen a lot of improvement and watched us come together as a team. I really enjoy watching them. My favorite memory is when we went to AG during our meal stop we gave them a specific time to be back at the bus so when the time came watching them scramble from different directions was really funny to watch."

"My favorite memory was actually having the kids try hard during practice and not messing around. I think this season is gradually getting better as time goes on."

PSAT Results Name Four to Scholarship Program Competition

PVHS Assistant Principal Elyssa Chavarria was recently notified with exciting news for four eleventh graders. Based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) taken last October, four students have been selected to be part of the National Hispanic Recognition Program for scoring in the top 2.5% among all Hispanic and Latino test-takers in our region. Erik Ruiz, Joseph Soria, Daniel Segura and Analiese Ramirez will be eligible for recognition by completing a short online application that will enable them to highlight their educational achievements to top colleges and universities.

Daniel Segura believes it is an honor to be recognized for their efforts. “It is especially meaningful having been selected, to be able to represent Hispanics, and to serve as an example to younger students.”

"The greatest reward of the recognition is that it not only highlights my Latino heritage, but rewards my parents for the sacrifices they have made for me," Erik Ruiz shared.

Additionally, Analiese Ramirez has also qualified for the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. From approximately 1.5 million program entrants, she is among 50,000 highest scoring participants who will be considered for additional recognition and possible scholarship eligibility in the fall.
