Basquiat Rhymes

Sink, brown water cleans

Un pure and

Dripped in sin.

Years of my father's

Hands whipped to the brim.

A mask, shapes my trigger fingers

To licking fingers, taste what my

Mother has been trying to say,

Un pure and dripped

In love, saliva nothing

But a protector to the lonely

Secrets made with mouths.

Don’t be afraid, skeleton

Child, your bones can

Be dripped in sunken

Dread.

Drip like a faucet,

Brown water pure.

PV Band Heading to Disneyland

On April 21st-22nd the concert band will be going to Cal State Fullerton and Disneyland. Mrs. Wehlander explains, "The band will be going to play at a concert hall for a director, Dr. Patricia Cornett, who will be working with my band and critique their work. The next day, we will be going to the Disney Parks, to preform in a recording studio with a Disney conductor. We will be playing soundtracks that will go with an animation. After recording, we'll just spend the rest of the day hanging around and having fun at the park."

-Melanie Naraval

Carlos Garcia (12) "I've been waiting for this field trip for 4 years now. It seems pretty exciting and I'm ready for the director to judge our work."

Omar Mata (9) "I am really looking forward for the field trip because we're going to be performing for the music art director at Fullerton. We will then be competing the next day so we might be able to use tips from the previous day. After that we'll be having the day to ourselves at Disneyland. The last trip was a blast so I'm really hoping for the same experience!"

ASB Enjoys 3 Day Conference

From Saturday morning until Monday night, our ASB club attended a CASL conference in Ontario, California. CASL (California Association of Student Leadership) is a three day conference with different schools across California and their ASB Leaders. There, students attend different workshops on how to build more on leadership skills, plan more events, get more people involved in your school, etc. Out of 300 schools, Pioneer Valley, along with 40 other schools, won the Outstanding Leadership Program for having one of the best leadership programs throughout the state of California. The overall theme was, "One More Mile" and how leaders must preserve on their paths to success. Houston Kraft, one of the speakers, tweeted "Love requires us to go #onemoremile. It's not just asking 'How are you?' It's recognizing that people are ALWAYS more than 'Fine.' #CASL2016"

“CASL was a wonderful experience. I loved being around people who love to lead the school in a positive route. You meet a lot of new people from all across California, and you see the people that we’ve met at our CADA conferences.” –Jonalene Lara (11)

“Being at CASL was an enjoyable experience to learn more about the many different ways in becoming a better leader and to meet new people from different schools across the state of California, who all share the same passion in leadership as I do.” –Candice Corpuz (11)
