Writer's Block

Writing can be one of the hardest things to do. Whether it’s an essay for English or a poem for a special someone, writing is a great way to express yourself creatively. However, writer’s block is a natural black hole that almost everyone falls into. It can become a very stressful period of time that can last a couple hours to a couple of weeks. It just seems like the words have stopped flowing onto the page. It also seems like it will never end, which can be troubling in the case of writing an essay, and like always, you’ve procrastinated until the night before. There are ways to help with writer’s block.

Things you can do:

* Drink coffee

* Schedule the same time for writing during the day

* Read other books or poems for inspiration

* Take a break!

* Talk to another writer

* Maybe wait until after you’ve finished your essay to write the introduction

* Work on writing something else

* Lower noise

* Do some research

* Change your writing location

* Don’t get discouraged by some bad writing

* Stay positive

* Focus on why you're writing

* Don’t be overly critical of yourself

* Reward yourself when you complete a paragraph or page

* If you don’t understand what you’re supposed to write, ask the teacher

I understand that writing can be very stressful, especially when you don’t know what you’re writing about but you can do it! Good luck with your writing and don’t forget to drink water!

Snail Synopsis

Gastropods roam the surface of cold concrete on rainy mornings and afternoons ofPioneer Valley High School. You may refer to them as the average 'garden snail' however, they are far from normal. These mystical, soft-natured adventurers wander our school carrying their homes with them. Unfortunately, their population may be at risk! For there are countless times students 'accidently' crunch these innocent victims, spreading their poor, slimy remains among the school outdoor hallways. So, before you go tromping in the rain, look twice before you take that next step. Remember that these snails have families!

"I can tolerate snails, they're like acquaintances. They aren't tasty, so that’s why avoid killing them, but that doesn’t mean I haven't poured salt all over the poor snail. I think to avoid stepping on them you should watch where you're stepping, it isn't that hard" -Kelsey Marshall (9)

"I like snails, at least I think I do? They are tolerable, and pretty cute unless you crush them, then they turn into balls of mush its gross. And yes I also have put salt on a snail, r.i.p . To avoid getting the snails crushed you should look where you're stepping or going and be careful of them." -Maritza Ambris (9)

A lovely shot of Lenny getting a free ride from Hugo

Hugo always wins against Lenny

"I love snails! Snails are the epitome of greatness, they're very fun to pick up and to play around with even if they are messy. I don’t think I put salt on a snail once, I'm not evil. Primarily, snails should be put into a habitat that no one can touch them but snail handlers, and then pick them all up and make one big family." Alexis Dagar (9)

Prom Tickets Deadline Thursday!

PROM TICKET sales are almost over! The sales deadline is April 14; that is this Thursday! If you haven't bought your tickets there is still time. It is 45$ single and 90$ for couple. Permission slips are located in the front office. The original deadline was back in March, but was extended. The current deadline helped many panthers out so I asked a few seniors how they felt about the ticket extension date and about prom. SENIORS, LETS MAKE PROM EPIC! The clock is ticketing, so buy your tickets!

-April Chavez

"I think it was a good idea because the time they gave us wasn't enough to get everything together like the money or date and group. Now I have time to get it all organized and do it! Can't wait till prom!" -Vanessa Perez

"It has given people and myself more time save up for the tickets. Also it has helped me put my outfit together and more time to get the group together." -Eddie Mendez

"YAY! I can't wait for prom! and I got my ticket and I'm ready. The ticket extension helped a lot with me and my friends."
