Miitomo App Reviewed

Miitomo is the first app ever created by Nintendo, and was released on March 31st. It is a social networking app where you get to make your own Mii character and they ask you questions on many topics, such as your favorite food or celebrity. Answering these questions will give you coins to spend at the store for clothes and accessories to further customize your Mii. Afterwards, you can then share your answers with friends on Twitter or Facebook. You can also earn coins by viewing your friends’ answers, as well as commenting on them. In order to sign up to Miitomo, you need to have a Nintendo Account so you can save your progress on other devices or if you accidentally delete the app, which will erase your data if you reinstall it. The most interesting feature in Miitomo is Miifoto. Miifoto is where you take up to 5 Mii characters and add them in a photo, as if they are in the real world! Just like your answers, they can be shared on Facebook and Twitter, as well as seeing your friends' Miifotos. This app is pretty funny and I would recommend it because it is really addicting.

Rolling the Dice at PV; it’s Not Worth the Gamble

Gambling. Some consider it a sin, others say it’s a crime while the rest says it’s both. Naturally, because gambling is illegal in most places, who would have thought that this school has a group of students betting on dice for money. It was all exposed to the school last Thursday near the end of 5th period when suddenly, the intercom announced, “Attention all students, if you are caught with dice on campus…” Mr. Dickinson, one of our assistant principals, then mentions how some students are gambling, and that it is forbidden in school. Warranting further investigation, I volunteered to do a brief interview with Principal Herrera.

Panther Tales: What are your thoughts on kids bringing dice to school to play games and sometimes bet money?

Herrera: “Gambling is not allowed in school.”

P.T: What are the consequences for getting caught gambling?

Herrera: “The students that are gambling will be suspended.”

P.T: How about the seniors gambling? Do you think that the punishments will be lenient?

Herrera: “It won’t be tolerated, and it will block them from graduating high school.”

P.T: Would you like to say anything to the campus as a whole?

Herrera : “A majority of our students always make good choices and I want to encourage them to do the right thing. If you see any students gambling with dice or any other similar activity, please report it to any school officials. It is our job to keep this school a safe place to learn."

Weekly Clash Royale Review

Card Name: Minions

Rarity: Common

Type: Troop

Rating: 6/10

Review: The Minions card spawns 3 Minions that can defend and attack against air and ground troops. The Minions don’t do super well defending against big bulky cards, however they still do get some damage and they stop the enemy card in their tracks. This card should mainly be used defensively against the all mighty Baby Dragon card. The Minions are really weak against towers, and crown towers, dying after being shot by two regular tower arrows. For these collective reasons I give the Minions card a 6/10. Next week I review the Barbarians.

Language Fair this Saturday!

Language is a way for people to connect and communicate with each other as well as expressing their individuality and emotion. One might not think much about language, however it is an actual super power if you really think about it. You are taking your inner thoughts from your mind, and creating a pattern of sound that can be heard and interpreted almost instantaneously. So the foreign language department decided to come together and celebrate languages and all the different cultures surrounding them with a language fair. It is being held on April 16th and the price of admission is $2. So come join your fellow panthers in celebrating language at this event!

-Alexis Dagar & Shellvy Sanchez-Salazar

"The language fair is an event that offers opportunities to experience different languages. Participants will learn the basics of each language. There will be food, music, and different activities for different cultures. We have invited students from Righetti and SM to join us in this fine festival. We are celebrating the diversities in cultures. This is our first year participating in this event so I would encourage all you panthers to come and join us for this fantastic event." - Ms. Carrillo, Spanish teacher

" It should be a lot of fun, we have activities like bingo, jeopardy, and speed dating. They are meant for students to learn a language in a fun and interesting way. Also, students won't be talking to teachers but to other students who are learning the language as well. Finally the day of, we are going to have 6 other languages that are not Spanish or French such as Tagalog, Ilocano, German, American Sign Language (ASL) Portuguese, and Arabic and have 30 minute sessions on the basics of the languages called 'Language Tasting'." Ms. Zambrano, French teacher
