Fashion Club Attends FIDM Debut

PV's Fashion Club recently had the great opportunity to attend the FIDM 2016 Debut show, this Spring Break. Before watching the show, the club attended an open house at the FIDM school (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising), in downtown Los Angeles. PV students were given an informative tour of the school by FIDM alumni. The school also had a museum, which is opened to the public, that displayed many costumes from actual movies.

"The trip to Debut was hard to put together. As a club we struggled with the organizing of it, but we managed to attend this grerat event. It was such a fun trip. I got the chance to attend last year's Debut show and when I became president I wanted to make sure that the club would get to attend it again. I had a really fun time getting to see the new costumes they had displayed from movies I had seen. The dancing this year was amazing, I was so blown away by the music and costumes the students designed. The most inspiring part was knowing that the students put so much hard work into seeing their work come to life for so many people to see." -Aliyeah Navarro (Fashion Club President)

"The fashion show was exhilarating and exciting; there wasn't a dull moment. The campus was beautiful and there was a lot to see." -Alyssa Navarro

After touring FIDM's beautiful campus, the students got on buses that took them to the Santa Monica cliff hanger to watch the 2016 FIDM Debut show. The Debut show is put together by the graduating students who worked hard to be in the show. The featured students' work included Fashion design, Digital Media, Interior Design, Textile Design, Costume Design, Entertainment and many more. The show had great up beat music, with amazing videos and dancing. It was a great event that shows the hard work and determination of the students who attend FIDM.

Spring Break Adventures

Spring break is now over, and classes are back in session. Students in class are probably reminiscing of all the fun memories they had on their week off wishing to go back and not have to come to school. No matter it being going to Disneyland, having fun at the beach, hanging out with friends, or just staying at home and watching Netflix. What were the fun things that you did over spring break? Here are a few Panthers who explained what they did for their 11 days off.

Fatima Chavez (9) "Over Spring I became part of my friend's quince, which was really fun. I had a really great time. During the event, I was dancing around and accidentally hit a girl's head. After that day, I just stayed home and helped around the house."

-Melanie Naraval

Dulce Herrera Morales (9) "During spring break, I went to Grover Beach with my family and went shopping, hung out with my friends at their houses, and took long walks around my neighborhood with my family. I had a wonderful time."

Brisa Hernandez (11; left) "During spring break I kind of just slept in the whole time, watched some TV, and ate a lot of food. I didn't really hang out with much friends. "

Rodrigo Alvarez

(11; right) "I helped my mom babysit some kids, help around the house, and hung out with my friends at the mall."

CAUTION PVHS STUDENTS!!: Rock Found in Hallway!

A local student was walking to her class, when suddenly she saw a harbinger of death: the common rock. A rock by itself might not sound like cause for alarm for most of you, but random rocks in hallways can cause tripping. On average, tripping causes around 5,000 deaths a year worldwide. Shark attacks cause only 79. This means that, statistically speaking, this hallway is more dangerous than shark-infested waters because there’s something lurking much more dangerous than a lowly shark: a menacing rock.

“Yeah, I was just trying to get to my 6th period, when I saw it. I almost screamed. I didn’t know what to do so I called the media for help,” explains Jasmin Chavez, the student who found the rock.

Jasmin definitely made the right call. It is crucial to a school’s environment for students to feel safe while getting an education, and the Panther Tales are here to spread awareness of these hidden dangers.

Authorities say the rock has been moved to under a nearby bush, safe from innocent pedestrians just trying to get to class.

This rock could have caused serious injury, or even death.

Jenna Negrete (11) "I stayed home and watched a YouTube marathon of Undertale and Jacksepticeye. It was amazing."
