Batman v Superman Reviewed

Comic book fans have endured two long years waiting for this movie to come out. They have had only teasers and trailers to satiate their desire to see these two titans fight. Batman, the most dangerous human on the planet, and Superman, an alien with the powers of a god. Controversy over who would actually win the fight has been long debated and will continue to be debated as their skillsets give both of them advantages. The movie closely follows the Dark Knight comic book series, even using the same battle grade Batman armor concept, appealing to the comic book fans. Who would win will be debated for years but movie expanded farther than that. We get to see the classic heroine, Wonder Women, in action. We also see the first cinematic debut of Doomsday, the deadliest of Superman's enemies. These two characters are some of the most notable characters in DC comics, and they played major roles within the movie, and future of the franchise. The movie is also riddled with references and Easter eggs for as to what will be coming in the future of the cinematic universe. It doesn’t just reference the future, it also gives details as to this new Batman's past. Because of this whole new Batman, the movie included some tidbits as to what he has been doing in Gotham for the past years

-Nestor Lopez

The new Batman portrayal is a seasoned Batman who has dealt with all that Gotham had to offer making him more of a dark and gritty character. The new Lex Luthor character portrayal breaks away from the common character portrayal. It brings to mind many questions to which people can only speculate, but the characters is a huge teaser for what has been rumored to come in the future of the franchise. A deleted scene of the character can be found on YouTube, link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-MUzvASr8s. The deleted scene reveals how the character came to be within the movie. The movie's plot does seem all over the place, and the pacing could have been better, but in all, it is a good action movie to relax to and watch with friends. The movie came out March 26, 2016 and is currently playing in the theaters.

Pura Vida Returns From Europe

The Pura Vida Travel Club just returned from their yearly journey to Europe during Spring break. This year our trip highlighted some of the best parts of Italy and Spain. We, Isaac Gonzalez, Vanessa Chavez and I, traveled by plane, train, subway, charter bus and ship. We were on the road for a total of eleven amazing days filled from morning until night with all the sights, sounds, tastes and experiences of the places we visited. Our itinerary included Rome, Florence, Siena, Luca and Pisa all in Italy, then we took a cruise ship to Barcelona and also saw Madrid.

Some of the very most impressive aspects of this trip were the visit to the Vatican, in Rome, it is the smallest city state in the world, ruled of course by the Pope. There we saw some amazing tapestries, the beautiful hand woven wall hangings, lots of marble sculptures, we saw the Pope’s personal chapel, the Sistine Chapel with Michel Angelo’s fresco painted ceiling, and Saint Peter’s Basilica, the largest Roman Catholic Church in the world. Everything seemed to be covered in gold everywhere we looked. Then we toured the Roman forum and the Coliseum, what can I say? They were unbelievable! To think that it was all made so long ago and still exists for everyone to see and enjoy. There was so much more to this trip, I can’t even mention it all. It was like walking through the pages of European history. For sure we enjoyed the pasta in Italy and gelato, the Italian style ice cream.

The food was great during the whole trip. We walked until our feet got sore and slept well at night. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who really wants to see the world, you will be amazed at what western civilization has created over time. Our next trip to Europe is already scheduled for spring break 2017. All are welcome to join us, the Pura Vida Travel Club. See me, Ms. Maldonado for details. We meet Thursdays in room 214. Hope to see you there! And by the way, yes, it is expensive, but there are payment plans available so that you can pay in smaller amounts. It is worth it, as no other part of the world has re-created exactly what had been done, the way it has been done in Europe. It is simply incomparable.

In Barcelona, we went to see the famous Sagrada Family, the unfinished cathedral of Antonio Gaudi, we strolled the wide avenue of La Rambla, we ate at the Boqueria market, and took in many landmarks. Then on to Madrid, the capital of Spain and the seat of Ferdinand and Isabel, the Catholic king and queen who seemingly ruled the world during their time period. We saw the Plaza de Toros, the world famous soccer stadium, the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor, one of the biggest plazas in Europe and the list goes on!
