Spring Rally

The Fresno based Barrier Breakers put on an outstanding performance for the Spring Rally last Friday. Their mission is to demonstrate Inclusion through Ability Awareness Outreach & Education presentations and performances and celebrate the gifts and talents of all people with various abilities while softening the hearts of audiences and generating hope for all people. The team is a combination of performers, each with amazing Abilities and range from 6 years to adult. There are currently 58 performers on the team. Each performer has their own definition of triumph, a talent to show and a mission to accomplish.  http://www.breakthebarriers.org

ASB officers agreed that the presentation was very motivational and a great success.

“The rally was one of the most life changing we’ve ever had at PV. It really inspired the students to never discriminate against people. We’re hoping to have them back every year to open the eyes of our students.” –Jonalene Lara

Having a Bad Day?

Have you ever had that day where everything is not going your way? You tried your best to do everything but it all went wrong. We get it, and we're here to help you out. Just take some time out of your day and breathe, just breathe. You'll be okay, everything is going to be alright. If you're still upset with whatever is happening in your life, hopefully these Panthers’ good advice will make your day a bit better.

Saray Guardado (9) "The way I get over a bad day is to eat my problems away. It usually gets better as soon as I'm done eating. It's kind of easy for me to get over a bad day."

Samantha Garcia (9) "I don't really get over a bad day; I just embrace it. I usually listen to depressing music, sleep, and mope around until I feel better."

Adriana Ruelas (12) "If I have a bad day, I usually look forward to getting home to my dog. For me and how long it takes to get better, it depends on the situation and how bad my day was."

Jazmin Quezada (10)"I never really had a super bad day. What I usually do to get over a bad day is to think about the next day. It really depends on how bad the day is when it comes to how long it takes. if it was a super bad day it would take me a couple of days to get better. But if it was a small thing it might take me a little shorter."

A Poem by Zander Moreno

the kind of “sight for sore eyes” not meant to be seen tired

the way blinking scares me, you see, my footsteps could send shivers down my spine, the twisted hips of my wrists know too well to love something too good for me anyways.

i can’t find my voice it's been tucked into an envelope that i have yet to open.

the day i saw you, my ankles felt weakness just as much as much as the day i fell asleep on the bus, vulnerable, innocent.

i can tell you how much i love you, it's in my forearm where you kissed me the day i cut myself on a branch i can tell you if my hands feel different when i touch your cheeks. the way you look at me like a question waiting for an answer,

the day you told me that the stars in my eyes tickle your stomach with butterflies, flutter with the eyelashes of my long droopy eyes. the last day I say i love you, i don’t say it the loudest i can, give me the voice I enveloped the day i met you because i was speechless.
