Story by Joana Yanez

During lunch yesterday the “Spread the Word to End the Word” rally took place at the stage and beside it. Students and staff had fun as they ate their lunches and watched the very entertaining and meaningful presentation. With just a soccer court and a ball, many students participated and enjoyed it to the fullest.

The purpose of the event was to bring to light the inappropriate use of the “R” word (retarded). Many of us use the R word in our everyday speech without the intention of being hurtful. Unfortunately we don’t realize that we are being hurtful and disrespectful of others when we use the R word. It is the hope of those involved in this event that the R word will not be said anymore.

Students signed this poster paper pledging not to say the r word.

Gabriel Sanchez claimed that he had a good time taking penalty shots, "It was my first time kicking a soccer ball.”

Principal Martinez trys her luck at the net. Next stop FC Barcelona.

Hot or Cold?

These past few days, our weather has been a bit... strange to say the least. We are in the beginning of March and it's warming up a little, but some days it can be well under 40 degrees. Everyone has their preferences on the temperature. Some enjoy being outside, soaking up the sun while others like it a little more chilly wrapped up in warm clothing. Here are several Panthers explaining their views on weather.
