Black History: a Legacy of Strength … a Future of Hope

BSU hosted an assembly yesterday to commemorate the sacrifices and courage of the people who made a difference in the black community. BSU invited guest speaker Lettie Fulmore to highlight black history and provide a greater understanding of the process required to gain the freedom and recognition that African Americans have today. Fulmore’s captivating presentation was titled “Black History: a Legacy of Strength … a Future of Hope.”
Lettie Fulmore (Guest Speaker), "Because it was the first time, they didn't know what to expect, we want more participation next time."
Angie Bolden (BSU Member), "The assembly went pretty well. This is the first time we hosted Black History Month Assembly."
Luz Aparicio (9), "The assembly was about Black History month. It changed my life by showing me that education is important to life and it doesn't matter what color you are. Be you and be yourself; no one can change it. After the assembly, I felt really good."
Juan Pablo Lopez (10), "I didn't know how we got this opportunity to be here so I feel proud for the African Americans who sacrificed their lives so that we could be standing where we are today."
Elijah Mack (BSU Member, bottom right), "All lives matter. Stay educated and make a difference."

Can't Wait for Grad Nite 2016

PV’s 2016 Grad Nite will take place May 21st at Magic Mountain. The exciting nighttime adventure is sure to please the masses with its thrilling rides, dance parties, and opportunity to meet seniors from all over Cali. Most are going because it is long standing tradition and Senior rite of passage but here are a few participating panthers’ specific reasons for attending:
"I'm really excited to just get out and go on most of the rides, even though I've been on them already. I love the thrill of it, plus I get to go with a bunch of friends so that's a plus."

They See Me MOLE’N They HATE’N

Mole is a traditional Mexican dish that is often made for special occasions and holidays. The delicious thick sauce tastes differently depending on which recipe is being used. Mole is may contain chili peppers, nuts, spices, and sometimes even CHOCOLATE. Some of the better known variations are Mole Poblano, Mole Oaxaceno, and Mole Colorado. They can range from sweet to spicy, but no matter what recipe is being used, making mole will always be a delicious and beautiful Mexican tradition.
“My mom makes it sweet and spicy. She uses breadcrumbs or animal crackers to sweeten it but she also uses a ton of chile! Confusing … I know right. I love it! It’s my favorite dish. Its fire. *insert fire emoji*
