Panic! at the Disco

The band of childhood friends (Ryan Ross, Brent Wilson, Spencer Smith, and Brendon Urie) emerged in 2004 as high schoolers from Las Vegas and has really fell keen to students with their pop rock sound. Throughout the years, members would be changed in order to play the instruments and fill in parts after Ryan Ross and Jon Walker had left the band in 2008 to form another band themselves. The lead singer, Brendon Urie (also known as "Beebo" by fans), is seen as the face of the band or seen as carrying the band. Matter of fact, he is the only member left, considering that the others, well, left. The first album was described as theatrical and upbeat, but at the same time the recent album has a similar sound. Panic! At The Disco just came out with their new album, Death of a Bachelor. The entire album was written and recorded by Brendon Urie (playing all of the instruments in each song). Overall, the fans seem to be very passionate and loyal. Although the music slightly changes, the fans stay cheering.

Gallant: Adoptable Pet of the Week

-Jessica Pena

Do you know what it is to be GALLANT? Webster's dictionary would tell you that it means to be brave, heroic; to be noble-minded and chivalrous. Well, I suppose this means we could all learn a thing or two from this 4 year old gladiator named GALLANT. Weighing in at around 70 lbs and with the body of a WWF athlete, this hunk is full of power and vigor

Now, with all that comes his need for an experienced (and respectful) pack-leader. All dogs inherently require this from us humans (and, all too often, we fail them in this department) -- but GALLANT is, well, a bit of a bull-in-a-china-shop. He has spent nearly 3 years living la vida shelter; only a cold kennel to call home and forced to spend every single night for the last 3 years by himself. Given this, he has never had the stability of a dedicated and committed owner.

Seth Hutson, the trainer at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society (where GALLANT now calls home), saw something special in this dog. He took him on as his special student; he saw that although GALLANT appeared tough and tenacious on the outside, but was in fact a highly intelligent, sensitive, and emotionally fractured guy. GALLANT is currently enrolled in Seth's Pawsitively Great Dog Training boot camp and Seth has high hopes of making GALLANT a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certified dog! You could say GALLANT is like that student who everyone thinks is a troublemaker, but really in their core they just desire security and love.

GALLANT is extremely animal friendly; we hear he has lived successfully with cats during one of his previous adoption attempts. Sad to say, there have been multiple adoption attempts (everyone falls for him, he is devoutly sweet and amiable with everyone he meets -- he adores young kiddos, too!) but no one has been able to handle his immense power and fortitude.

GALLANT requires an experienced pit bull owner, but also someone passionately dedicated to the breed and willing to be an advocate for his breed. GALLANT would also, if he could speak, tell all you that it isn't having a big strong hulk like him standing next to you that makes you a man; it is your ability to be dedicated to living honestly and purely; to be true to yourself but MOST importantly, to be good to your fellow man. In these tumultuous times, it is comforting to know that we still have such a dedicated and unconditionally loving species by our side. That is just what GALLANT dreams of providing to someone, or a family, someday. Is that you?

GALLANT'S adoption comes with free training at the Santa Mara Valley Humane Society as well as in your home. Call (805) 349-3435
