The New Star Wars, Adored by All

Star Wars is a modern sci-fi fantasy epic. It follows the tale of Luke Skywalker on his journey to becoming a Jedi and defeating the empire. It had one of the most shocking character reveals, when Darth Vader said he was Luke’s father. Since its debut, it has garnered millions of fans worldwide, and has only been expanding. After the original trilogy, a prequel trilogy was released to critical reviews. Many fans still love the franchise to this day. After Disney obtained the rights to the Star Wars franchise, they began work on a new set of movies, with the first being released December 17, 2015. Many fans rejoiced and cried as they watched teasers and trailers of the new movie. When preorder tickets became available, many servers crashed because of the overload of fans wanting to buy tickets. Days, even weeks in advance were sold out prior to its release in some areas, showing how much fans adore the franchise.

Mr. Marino

Well, you have to know that that was the first movie I ever saw, that I remember. It came out in 1977, so I was four and I remember going to the Drive-in movie theater. I remember when the Stormtroopers came out, then I fell asleep. I was the first one on my block with a land cruiser, and all the Star Wars figures and stuff. The only one I really remember watching in a theater was Return of The Jedi, and I can tell you which theater I was in, and who I was with, and it was awesome because Darth Vader's mask came off and it was like gasp, it was the greatest thing ever. I'm a huge fan, it's like a huge part of my life because I grew up with that. To me it's our modern epic, it has the hero’s journey, it`s a part of a tradition that goes back to ancient Greece. The way the story is told and what it's about, it's a timeless story.

Before Viewing: The new Star Wars trailer came out and I’m not going to see it for probably a month because it's going to be so crowded. When the first trailer came out, I got tears in my eyes. I was wiping them away when I saw it because it’s just like, my favorite. When I hear the music it gets me fired up. I never get sick of watching it, ever. I’m over the moon, like I can’t wait but I have to because I’d rather wait than deal with crowds that will ask me how old I am. I have the patience enough to just wait because I know I’m just going to buy it eventually.

After viewing the movie Mr. Marino had this to say, "I loved it because it was more in the spirit of the first three movies that I grew up with, that I fell in love with. It is also a good story too; strong female character that doesn't need a man to become a hero. She's a hero of her own right."

Guiselle Aguilar

Before Viewing: I was really excited because there was a lot of action and a lot of movement, as a little kid that was pretty awesome. I’m not a crazy Star Wars fan like Mr. Howard or Mr. Wolstenholme, because I didn’t live through it but I am a pretty modern fan. I am going to watch it this Friday at 6:40, catch me there, I am pretty stoked. I just hope Disney doesn’t ruin it like ruins everything. I just hope it comes out to be a really good movie.

After viewing the movie, Guiselle Aguilar had this to say "It was great dude. I cried more than I should have. I could feel the intensity throughout the movie. Every second of it blew my mind. Alright. Interview over. Get out of my face Nestor."

Nestor Lopez

I was probably six or seven when I saw the first movie. All my friends were talking about it and how awesome it was so I checked it out myself and I was just mesmerized by the movie. I remember I couldn’t take my eyes off it. It was really awesome seeing the lightsaber duels. I was hooked on the series since, getting lots of Star Wars shirts of Darth Vader as he was my favorite character. For a good while it was all that my friends and I would talk about. I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan because compared to most I am average but if I ever find something, about the Dark side, that people are selling I will probably buy it. My first trip to Disneyland was heavily influenced by Star Wars. I built the Kylo Ren lightsaber there and bought it.

After viewing the movie Nestor Lopez said, "The movie was spectacular. I obtained goosebumps multiple times while watching the movie. The way the movie was felt was like I was watching the original three movies and I enjoyed every bit of it. The movie had me captivated throughout its entirety."

Mr. Howard

When I watched my first Star Wars movie, it was in the theater of course, I was seven or six and I don’t remember anything to be honest but I know it meant a lot to me because I became a collector of all Star Wars paraphernalia including cards, characters, and ships. As far as being a fan, I think I was average, All my friends and I did the same thing. We traded character figures and cards. (By trading cards I mean when you bought a pack of cards you didn’t know what was going to be in them and sometimes you already had that card so maybe you traded it with someone else who also had a duplicate.) We had Star Wars themed birthday parties, everybody did. For Halloween, we dressed up in Star Wars outfits, I was Darth Vader more than once. I made my own Darth Vader helmet out of papier-mâché and that was normal.

After viewing the movie Mr. Howard said, "I enjoyed it a lot. I especially liked Rey, not just a great warrior, but smart too; techy smart, the way Anakin was. I thought the special effects were much more realistic. I also appreciated the lack of cutesy characters, which is the only flaw of the saga. It was hard seeing Han Solo die; I understand why they did it, but it was hard to watch."
