Adoptable Pet of the Week

-Jessica Pena

Browny and Mousy are two dogs that are trying to find a “forever” home. Both are 8 years old and they are sisters. They were found with their mother and 8 other puppies. When all the dogs first came in, they were shy but soon came out of their shells. Each puppy has a different personality. Browny and Mousy’s other brothers and sisters have already have been adopted; they are the only two left of their family.

Browny has a slight problem with her hind legs so the workers custom made a cart for her. She can get easily around without the cart inside, but she needs the cart when she is on walks and playing outside. Browny is a very energetic dog. Yet, Mousy is the kind of dog that will sit on your lap to watch a movie with you. She’s the complete opposite of her sister.

Browny and Mousy have been at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society (SMVHS) since September 23, 2015. It would be wonderful if they could be adopted together as they are inseparable. Music Spotlight: The Weeknd

-Madison Skaufel

The Weeknd: Billboard Charts' #1 of the top 100 list ranker is a well known solo artist around the PV campus. Many students are very keen to the Canadian grown "Can't Feel My Face" singer as his melodies have a twist of R&B mixed with a pop flow.  The singer also known by die hard fans as Abel is so popular that it's impossible to turn on a mainstream radio station and not hear The Weeknd playing through the speakers.

His Trilogy album has been said to give off a soothing slow temp tone, as ''Beauty Behind the Madness' was something more radio sound friendly. Many students on campus really seem to love this artist and the interesting mix he brings to the radio.  Varsity Cheerleader, Leslie Diaz(12) had this to say:

"I love listening to The Weeknd because his old sound is much more different than what you hear nowadays on the radio. I feel also that his music resembles Michael Jackson in many ways and maybe that's what people really liked about him even though Michael was gone, his sound could still live on."

Mr. Grimm explained that the group is made up of both PV students who have disabilities and general education Students. They will attend home games and support our players. "We decided to make this cheer group to create opportunities for leadership and social interactions with students who have disabilities. Come out tonight, we're going to be cheering loudly!”

Marcos will be Missed and Remembered

-D. Howard

Yesterday at lunch Ms. Martinez invited students to write down their sentiments about Marcos Arce Pena. The wonderful outpouring of love and sadness was written on poster paper; the individual inscriptions will be cut out and placed in a scrapbook for the Marcos’ family.

"We are so sad that Marcos is gone…gone from his school, gone from his friends, and gone from his family. We have known Marcos as an aspiring student, a great friend, and a good son. We send our strength to Marcos’ mom as she manages through this emotional time and beyond. In our writing class, Marcos was working on a paragraph about someone he would like to be for one day. He was writing about his mom. He loved her. Marcos will be missed and remembered." -Ms. Curry

"We thought it would be nice to provide an opportunity to let students express their thoughts and feelings, but also a way to communicate to the Marcos' family how loved their son was by so many people.  He truly did touch many lives in his short time.  He will be forever missed by his PVHS family as well."

-Ms. Martinez
